Ponsona
A downloadable game for Windows
A blend of JRPG and Match-3 elements, Ponsona was inspired by Panel de Pon / Tetris Attack / Pokemon Puzzle League and the Shin Megami Tensei series. Navigate the halls of your school in 1st person as you foil a sinister plot.
Created as a submission for Inspire Jam 2022 by Dallas Society of Play.
Controls
WASD / Arrow Keys
- Navigate 1st person dungeon crawling view
- Choose battle commands
- Move block swap cursor during battle
Enter/ Spacebar
- Progress through dialogue boxes
- Open doors
- Confirm battle commands
- Swap blocks horizontally
Escape
- Open main menu (unavailable during combat)
Use the "Swap" battle command to form combos and chains by moving the cursor and horizontally swapping adjacent pairs of blocks. Match three or more blocks of the same color horizontally and/or vertically to score a combo. Score large combos to attack enemies with elemental damage based on the color of the first combo scored that turn. You have a limited amount of time to make as many swaps as wanted.
The "Push" command will push up new blocks onto the playing field from the bottom of the screen. Blocks can be pushed safely outside of the playing field without risking defeat. More blocks mean more chances for bigger combos and longer chains.
The player will be defeated if blocks are stacked outside of the playing field at the end of a turn when using the "Swap" battle command. Metal junk blocks cannot be matched but will automatically disappear if adjacent to a color combo when scored.

Very cute and cool! I'm not particularly good at these types of games, but I think this deserves to be fleshed out into a full game. Great job!
Thanks for the kind feedback! I've been implementing some new minor features since the original game jam and hope to release it as a full game by next year with additional gameplay mechanics and a full story.
Absolutely fabulous!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback!
This is absolutely really good. I enjoy the battle aspect of Panel de Pon and while the rule at first is kinda hazy (in the way that how would you damage the enemy is decided by the first color) I end up making some serious strategy to win some battle.
That couple last enemy and boss is kinda dirty though lol
I would love looking at a more longer version of this. Absolutely enjoyed this game!
