Unfinished Fantasy

Created in one month without the use of a commercial game engine for RPG Mania VI. Inspired by the visual style of Final Fantasy III and the gameplay of Final Fantasy V, two warriors reincarnate endlessly until they complete their quest to reach the top of a tower full of monsters.

Update 10/31/2023

• Fixed bug with the confirmation prompt when overwriting a saved game or quitting back to the title screen from the main menu.

Controls

• Arrow Keys - Move characters on the game map / Move cursor through the UI menus
• Enter / Spacebar - Interact with objects on the game map / Confirm UI menu selection
• Escape - Bring up main menu from the game map / Cancel out to previous UI menu

Status Ailments

• Fear - Reduces attack accuracy by half, and prevents targeting the foe that inflicted the fear ailment.
• Confusion - Reduces attack accuracy by 10%, and prevents the use of Magic and other commands that require concentration. Goes away automatically after 1-4 turns.
• Death - Instant KO.

Notes

• Some spells can target multiple enemies/allies like in the early Final Fantasy titles. Move the cursor all the way to the left to target all enemies in battle, or all the way to the right to target all allies.
• Undead foes can be damaged with healing items or magic.
• KO'd characters automatically revive after the end of battle with 1 HP.
• Running away has not been implemented. Avoid encounters when necessary and save whenever a save point is available.
• This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is greatly exaggerated.
